In most cases, injuries, fractures & infections in bones show up clearly on X-rays, but other life-threatening conditions can also be diagnosed with quick & timely diagnostic imaging tests.

Some other common reasons for an X-ray:

Bones

Fractures & Infections: Road accidents, Sports Injuries, Twisted Knee, Ankle or Elbow. Smashed body parts; clearly show up on X-rays.

Arthritis & Osteoporosis: Joint X-ray can reveal evidence of arthritis & or help determine if your arthritis is worsening. Doctors can also measure bone density for the treatment of your symptoms.

Abdomen

Swallowed items: An X-ray can show a swallowed foreign object.

Digestive tract problems: problems in your digestive system; obstruction (blockage), a perforation (hole) in the intestines, or tumor even Kidney stones can be detected in a digital X-ray.

Chest

Lung infections: Evidence of pneumonia, tuberculosis or lung cancer can show up on chest X-rays.

Breast cancer: Mammography; a special X-ray, can detect early signs of breast cancer. (A referral can be given for this type of X-ray)

Blocked blood vessels and enlarged heart: congestive heart failure & highlights of the circulatory system are visible on X-rays.

Note: The procedures offered are effective, safe, and painless and they do not need anesthesia. Different types of X-rays require different preparations. Ask your doctor or nurse to provide you with specific instructions. Make sure to inform your examiner if you are pregnant.
